Counter-Storytelling: A Form of Resistance and Tool to Reimagine More Inclusive Early Childhood Education Spaces

In this essay, I reflect on my lived experiences as a girl child growing up in home country of Botswana, and also mother foreign country, Canada. am experimenting with personal essay making connections academic articles that will help me understand behaviors, attitudes, responses to challenging situations seemed unfair unjust. believe sharing not only gives platform reflect, but renders an opportunity unearth hidden ideologies perpetuate dominant discourses continue undesirably affect early childhood education. Sharing the unfortunate events for brings healing comfort. My is guided by critical race theory provokes challenges normalized practices education marginalize minority community. Also, inspiration piece was drawn from Wallace Lewis’s (2020) book, which described humans narrative creatures who need stories/narratives make sense world around them. The unpacks discusses four questions, at same time, offering acts resistance refusal applying counter-storytelling methodology.
